Where teaching flows into practice - the MasterMed Philosophy

“At MASTERMED we teach excellence by combining theory and practice” Dr Vivien Jandera, Founder of MASTERMED

Our philosophy of teaching is currently a first in South Africa – we extend our training beyond a theoretical understanding. Our courses are created to provide every attendee with the required academic knowledge and understanding, and then play a supportive role in the application of the techniques learned.

Our courses are unique in our field – each course is designed with a follow up session that provides detailed guidance and feedback on application cases.

“I’ve seen over again that medical practitioners lack confidence in application. Our aim is to help them not only learn what they need to know, but support them in the practice of applying their knowledge.” – Dr Jandera

The MASTERMED course catalogue features courses that include application feedback and practical application sessions.

From Dr. Vivien Jandera - why MASTERMED exists

I am a Plastic Surgeon and have been teaching dermal fillers in the university and corporate space for over 15 years.

During my time teaching, I’ve noticed some critical gaps in the training opportunities for aspiring and practicing aesthetic doctors.

So, with that background, I want to start to teach in my own way, setting my own curriculum based on what I think you really need to know to be a good injector.

I’m also doing things differently from other courses I have either attended or taught. Typically, you attend a course but afterward, it is difficult to start treating patients all on your own with nobody holding your hand – and so many people never even start.

My first module is an anatomy course – it is the basis of all aesthetic treatments and is completely independent of the other modules.

The anatomy and filler courses are independent of each other – so you can do one or both.

I have 3 filler courses – for different areas of the face. I really recommend that you start with the Midface Fillers – so that is the course that is launched first.

What makes my filler courses different is that when you sign up, you are assigned a second session on a date 5-6 weeks after the first contact session, included at no extra charge. Two dates are scheduled after each filler course for 90-minute follow-up sessions with me (only 2 doctors per session). You can select a slot on the day you attend the course. I would like you to bring photos of some patients you have injected so we can discuss them, and then you are also welcome to bring a patient that I will help you to inject.

So there is a follow-up session arranged from the beginning – to my knowledge the first time this has been done in SA.

The filler that you will inject is included in the price of the module for the first training session. However, you will have to provide the filler required for the patient injected in the 2nd session.
